Lost in the Country - Photoshoot
Yesterday was one of the first warm days that we have had in a little while. With that being said we took full advantage of the sunny skies and warm temps to drive about 40 minutes out of the city to do a photo shoot. Although the temps were warm, I was still cold in this dress...
Here are some of our best shots:
Being all dressed up and on dirt roads I kind of felt like I looked like a lost city girl, totally out of place. What do you think of the shots?!?!

Myths about girls - and 1st giveaway-CLOSED
Being a part of Vervegirl's Vrep program I was asked by Kotex to participate in their Generation Know program. If you don't know what Generation Know is it is a community of women all around the world breaking myths about everything to do with our bodies.
There are four different projects that you can take part in:
Break the Silence
Bust a Myth
Change the Message &
Spread the Word
Being a female in my 20's I think that is so0o important for all of us to know everything we can about ourselves, right down to the things that we are too scared or nervous to talk about(even with our own doctors). Personally I hate going to the doctors for that yearly uncomfortable appointment. But it is time that we as women gather together and help one another. There are so many outrageous myths out there that you really would laugh or giggle if you heard some of them, but sadly enough most girls can't distinguish between the facts and myths.
For example some myths include...
Can you get an STD from a toilet seat?
- Although public toilets are pretty nasty this has never happened before.
Will you get attacked by a shark if you swim on your period?
- Sharks don't care if and when we are on our periods.
Is coffee good for fighting PMS?
- No coffee can actually make cramps worse. This I find to be a total catch 22, because caffeine helps to get rid of bloating, but then I have to suffer with horrible cramps afterwards, boo!! :(
One myth that I always thought was true while growing up is that you can't get pregnant during that time of the month, but that 'aint true, says the doctor!
One thing that I also never knew is that bananas are one fruit that can actually help fight away those self loathing monthly blues!!! YAY!! This makes me super happy because I love bananas and they taste so good in breakfast smoothies!!
What myths did you and your friends grow up with?
Myths such as the ones mentioned above exist because we don't talk about them enough. Why are we always so scared to talk to one another? I mean we are all girls and we have and/or are all going through the same things right? Even though it may be difficult (I still squirm sometimes) when we work together to tear down myths like these we raise girls' confidence and when we are fearless we teach girls not to be ashamed about their bodies. So let's talk more!!
As a part of the Generation Know program for each girl who joins Generation Know, U by Kotex will donate to Girls For a Change, a national non-profit organization that empowers girls to lead social change within their communities, up to $500,000.
Being a part of this program U by Kotex sent me a package in the mail, with a bunch of these "i know" bracelets. Wearing one of these bracelets symbolizes that you are in the know and that you support Generation Know. I think that it is so important for women and especially ones such as ourselves who have an audience of girls that look up to us to help make a change. With that being said I wanted to do a giveaway!!!!
There will be 4 winners for this giveaway and each winner will receive two of these "i know" bracelets, one for you and one that you can give to a friend. The bracelets are so cute and colourful and they would look great stacked with other bracelets. One of the four winners will also win something extra!!! Two of my favourite lipsticks from Rimmel's moisture renew line. I have raved about this line before as it is one of the only lipstick brands I have ever tried that do not dry out my lips. The two colours include 700 nude delight and 320 funtime fuchsia. (The fuchsia swatch is not the exact same colour it is a little bit brighter than funtime fuchsia; I swatched my 340 lily extase as it is very similar and I don't currently own funtime fuchsia. Also in the stick the camera is not doing the colour justice at all, it really is much more pink than red in person.)
This giveaway is open to all of my North American readers (sorry to everyone outside of North America, but I promise to do an international giveaway at some point!!).
Rules of the giveaway:
1. You must live in Canada or the US.
2. You have to be a follower of my blog on GFC and/or bloglovin'.
3. Comment below that you would like to be entered and also leave your email address, so I can contact you if you win.

Good luck to everyone and let's all speak up and be a catalyst for change!!!

Make your own statement
Today's post is my second in my "How to style/wear statement necklaces".
I also did some shopping recently and have a haul planned soon featuring a few of the items in my post today.
*My tip for this post is if you love statement jewelry/necklaces and you don't have any MAKE YOUR OWN!!! Find a few pieces in similar colours and/or metals and layer them up. Layering up your jewelry is the same as layering your clothes, you get something new every time you switch up a piece. The same concept can be said for layering different rings and bracelets too.
Here is my outfit today....
hi-low chiffon blouse: Rickis > same here
white beater: american eagle > same here
mint courds: velvet heart from winners > similar here
bow earrings: forever21 > same here
feather/charm necklace: Rickis > similar here
layered gold bead necklace: forever21 > similar here and here
watch: aldo > similar here
purse: guess > same here
studded flats: ardene > similar here
I was definitely feeling a little edgy with this outfit an hair, but I love it and think that it is prefect for Spring (whenever it finally decides to arrive in Ontario).
How do you layer your jewelry?
I have my first giveaway coming up next week!!! Help me get to 200 followers on GFC for something extra special in my giveaway!!!

Product Review - L'Oréal Voluminous Mascara
Hello lovelies,
Today I wanted to share a beauty product review with you all.
I think everyone and their grandma has tried the L'Oréal Voluminous mascara by now, but I have never tried the original formula so I thought I would and let you all know my two sense on it.
Cost: $5.98 @ Wal-Mart
(super affordable)
I got the mascara in brown/black for a more natural look, as opposed to always wearing black. I must say there really is not much of a difference in shade. When you first take out the wand the colour looks like a chocolate brown, but after it dries it looks much darker.
The first few times I used this mascara I noticed that the formula was very wet and I had to scrap off quite a bit of product on the container before applying to my lashes. After application the first couple of times I also had to run a dry spoley through my lashes to help seperate them. I have however found that this mascara does get much better after contiued use, as it does dry up a bit and become less wet.
One thing that I really like about this mascara is the curved wand. I have pretty long lashes to begin with and I don't curl them. With that beig said having a curved wand helps to lift my eyelashes and keep their natural curl(plus add some extra curl of course). I also really love that the formulation does not dry crunchy. My lashes still have some flexibility to them and they also keep their curl all day. This mascara is also super easy to remove, which makes the end of my day much easier.
Overall I would give this mascara an 8/10.
Would I purchase it again? For sure!! Would I recommend it to all of you? Yes!!!!
Have you tried this mascara before?
If so, comment below with your thoughts on this product.

Glossybox Canada review
1. Elite models intensity eye pencil. Retail price $14.99
This is a full sized water proof eyeliner and the application (just from swatching) is so soft and smooth, I cant
This is another full sized product. The colours are really pretty, but you for sure need a primer or base under these colours.
I tried these out with my boyfriend and they really work to get out all the gunk off your nose!
I was so excited when I saw this in my box. I used it in the shower with my conditioning treatment and I also mixed it with my argan oil after I dryed my hair. It is definitely weightless just as it claims and it smells so good.

Styling statement necklaces pt.1
Hello lovelies,
This post is going to be the first in a four part series of how to style/wear statement necklaces. In each post (once a week) I will show you an outfit with a different statement necklace and give you some tips on how to wear them.
Tip: When wearing a statement piece whether it be earrings, a necklace or a bracelet, you want to tone down everything else.
Outfit no.1
Blouse: Rickis
Dress pants: Dynamite
Earrings: Fr21
Bracelets: Fr21
Shoes: Ardene
Purse: H&M
This is an outfit that I wore to work the other day. I actually picked out my outfit before even adding my necklace. I love long collared blouses, but I never like to bottom them up all the way, so i can still show my neck. A statement necklace (especially with a top like this) is like what a tie is to men. We use them to add a little something extra to our outfits.
Since my necklace is gold and the rest of my outfit is plain, I thought these gold toed leopard flats would be a perfect accent.
I hope you all enjoyed this post.
Please comment below with any future requests for upcoming posts!!!!

DIY - earring holder/display
Hello lovelies,
I have a new DIY for you all and I personally love this one. I got the idea from beautysplurge on YouTube.
What you will need:
• a picutre frame
• a mesh backing/crosshatch placement (that is what I used)
• a pen/pencil
• scissors
• a hot glue gun
• ribbon/decorative paper
Step1:
Measure your backing by placing it against the back of your frame and mark the outline with a pen/pencil.
Step2:
Cut out your background.
Step3:
Time to glue your background to the back of your frame. Glue as you go and I also like to press down on my backing after I put the glue, just to ensure that there is no space between my frame and backing.
Step4:
Let the glue dry.
Step5:
Use your ribbon or paper to cover up the edges of your backing, to make it more aesthetically pleasing to look at.
Step 6:
Add your favourite earrings!
All done.
I hope you all like this tutorial and comment below if you try it!!
