Finesse Silver Beauty Shampoo & Conditioner - Blonde & Silver Hair | Review

Hello Lovelies,

As most of you know I have platinum blonde hair and I do not go to a salon, I do my own hair and have for many years. I originally went platinum blonde about 7 years ago and I shared my journey (read about it here) featuring the steps I took and the products I used. Over the years I have found products that are my favourite and that I always go back to. With that said, I am always on the look out for new products to try that will help me achieve and maintain the results that I want. Whether it be products to help make my hair healthier and stronger, or products that help protect and maintain my colour.

I have literally tried almost every purple/blue shampoo on the market, from drugstore to salon brands which is why I was excited to try out a new brand that I have never used before. I was recently given the opportunity to try out Finesse's Silver beauty shampoo and conditioner and I am going to share my thoughts on both products with you all.

To give a little background on my hair - My hair is blonde and I do not like golden tones in my hair, so the lighter I can go and the less yellow/orange my hair looks the better. I only tone my hair when I do my roots, which is roughly every 4-6 weeks. So, to manage my colour, purple shampoo and at times manicpanic are two go to products.

Product Claims:
Restores softness and tones down yellowness. Specially formulated for the unique needs of grey/platinum hair.

Results:
I have used both the shampoo and conditioner for he past month now and I must say that I am pretty impressed. I noticed a difference after one use. After using both products together my hair is definitely less orange and it feels really soft to the touch and bouncy.
Some purple shampoos will tint your hair when you leave it on for too long (at times I intentionally want the tint), however the Finesse shampoo and conditioner will not turn your hair purple, it just helps to tone down the orange and yellow tones that generally accompany blonde and silver hair.

Finesse Silver Beauty Shampoo Conditioner | Platinum Blonde Hair | Purple Shampoo | Canadian Blogger

For the value, the Finesse Silver Beauty line is definitely worth trying if you are blonde or if you want to tone down your grey/silver hair.
If you want a shampoo that will tint your hair, then this is not the one for you.

Rating:
4/5

Would I recommend this line?
Yes, I highly recommend trying out both products and for the price you cannot go wrong!
One thing to mention about both products is that they do have a distinct fragrant smell.

Let me know if you have tried the Finesse Silver Beauty and what your thoughts are!

Thank you so much for reading my review. If you have products that you are interested in hearing about or want me to revie, leave me a comment a below.

Mad Hippie Skincare Review

Hello lovelies,

Lately, I have been on a skincare kick, trying to find the best products for my skin. I was fortunate enough to receive some products from Mad Hippie Skincare to try out and review. If you have never heard of Mad Hippie Skincare, they are a natural skincare company that is vegan and cruelty free. I strongly value and appreciate companies that are cruelty free, especially when it comes to products that I use on my face and body.

The products that I received were the Antioxidant Facial Oil and the Hydrating Nutrient Mist. I will review them both below separately and let you know my honest opinion for each product.

Antioxidant Facial Oil

Claims

Make peace with your inner hippie while hydrating & protecting....Our preservative-free antioxidant oil is truly the most natural way to moisturize.

My thoughts:

Full of natural oils and extracts (argan oil, camu camu, blueberry extract, buckthorn, straxberry extra, goji berry and more) and high in vitamin C, this oil definitely does moisturize. Argan Oil aids in helping reduce scars, so in addition to using this oil on my face, I have also been using it on my stretch marks.

With this product you only need a couple of drops for your face. The first time I used it, I definitely used too much and it did leave my skin feeling oily. I recommend ensuring that you wash your face and also tone before using this product. A little goes a long way.

I have been using the Antioxidant Facial Oil 1-2 times a week with my face roller and occasionally more on days where my face is really dry. I have also as I mentioned, been using it on my stomach and I do that 3-4 times a week. I do notice a difference in my skin on the days that I do use it - my skin doesn't feel as dry and my makeup actually stays on better too.

Will I continue to use this product?
Yes!

Do I recommend this product?
Yes, no matter what skin type you have.

Great value?
Totally. It is such a great price for the amount of product that you get. The fact that I can use it on more than just my face and that it is all natural is a huge win in my book.

Cost: $24.99 / 30ml

Hydrating Nutrient Mist

Claims

Effervescent blend of antioxidants and hydrating essentials.  Leaves your skin feeling soft & supple, and ready to take on the daily stresses of modern day life.
Perfect for face, arms, neck & chest!
Made with hesperiden, sodium PCA, milk thisle, ginko biloba, pomegranate seed extract, green tea and more.

My thoughts:

When using this product, I spray it onto my face and rub it into my skin. It tightens up my skin and feels almost like a toner, which at first I thought was odd, however it is meant to be antioxidant as well, which is why green tea is one of the ingredients, and green tea does help to tighten up the skin. I leave it on for about 5-10 minutes before completing my full skin care routine.

This product also claims to naturally lighten dark spots, however I don't have any on my face, so I can not speak to that claim. I would like to know if this is true for any of you though, if you have tried this product (comment below!)

Will I continue to use this product?
Yes.

Do I recommend this product?
Yes, it is a great mist for every skin type, if you just need a refresh. Great for every day use as well.

Great value?
Yes. You don't need a lot when you spray the mist and if you spray it onto your hands or a cotton pad you will actually use less product.

Cost: 19.99 / 118ml

If you have never tried Mad Hippie Skincare products, I highly recommend checking them out, as I am in love with these two products. I am excited to check out the rest of their line and try more products from them in the future. If you have tried any of their products, comment below and tell me your favourites!

Thank you so much for reading this post, I hope that you have found it helpful and if you are not yet following me on Instagram, be sure to do so right >>> here <<<

Skincare Favourites | Beauty Review

Hello lovelies,

Being a mother of three and now also nearing 30 (yes I said 30!), I have been putting more thought into my skincare. Recently, I have started to notice a loss of elasticity under my eyes specifically. The skin under my eyes has always been more dry and this has been the case for years - so, I have always been on the lookout for a resolution to my dry under eyes.

For the past month I have found products and a skincare routine that has been working very well for me. I have noticed that my skin looks brighter & more refreshed (even with the lack of sleep that accompanies my crazy life), and the skin around my eyes is a lot more smooth. With all of that said, I am excited to share with you all what I have been using.

Skincare favourites | Younique skincare | Youology | Skincare review | rose quartz roller | shoosha oil } Canadian Blogger | Beauty Blogger

The first product is this Rose Quartz face roller. I have always had sinus issues and on the days that I use my roller I can physically feel the difference in my sinuses and in my lymph nodes. I use the roller in conjunction with a product below that I will talk more about. The coolness of the stone allows for the tightening of the skin, which at my age is now something that I need to start focusing on. I use quick strokes starting at my jaw and working upwards on my face in outward motions. I do this for about 4-5 minutes in total.
There are so many rollers out their, but I chose Rose Quartz specifically for the self love healing qualities that it promotes. Get the same one here.

I started using this serum from Shoosha Truly Organic  on my belly and hips during pregnancy and I also would use it under my eyes and noticed a huge difference in the brightness of my skin. I now use it 2-3 times a week all over my face and also when I use my face roller. It is amazoing because it really does help to fade scars, age spots and stretch marks (my belly is proof!) and it is not in any way greasy. It leaves my skin feeling so soft and is so much more amazing than other expensive face serums that I have used in the past.

I received the Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner in my February Ipsy bag and have been using it as a part of my regular skincare routine. The toner is very light and doesn't dry out my skin. I do it feel it tightening up my skin, but I don't get that burning feeling that can accompany some other toners on the market. I highly recommend trying this toner out if you are lacking lustre or just want a brighter complexion. If you are interested in Ipsy and getting customized delux samples and full size beauty products sent right to your door every month for under $20 then you should totally sign up!

Younique recently launched their new You.ology customizable skin care line and I was super excited to try it out. You fill out a little survey about your skin and it then recommends different boosters for your skin type to add to their base products. Out of the line my two favourite products are the face serum and night cream. The boosters I chose are for skin elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles and brightening up dull skin. I have been using both in my new routine and my skin is so much brighter and the skin around my eyes is no longer as dry and dull as it was before using this routine. I am so happy with the results thus far. For more info about their customizable skincare products click here to fill out your own skin care survey.

Over, all I have been loving all of these products and have noticed a big difference in the way my skin looks and feels. I on't get very much sleep with three littles and a full-time job and I live off of caffeine.

I hope that you find this post helpful/inspirational and that you too have found some new items that you want to try out. If you do try any, let me know. Also comment below with what your current skincare favs are.

If you are not yet following me on IG make sure you do for daily fashion and outfit inspo and for behind the scenes into my daily life with my three littles.

Beauty Favourites

Hello lovelies,

The saying "beauty is skin deep", definitely speaks true to me! Despite having just had twins and the fact that I am a house rat, I still want to take care of my hair and skin. Being able to pamper myself as being a busy mom of three, is a priority that I sure as heck take advantage of! With that being said this post is all about my current beauty and hair favourites!

Skincare:

Talking about skin deep, I love my charcoal mask (not pictured) and rose water toner.
The charcoal mask is gentle on the skin and is not like those peel off masks that everyone was using last year. It leaves my skin feeling soft and clean and it doesn’t hurt when you have to take it off!

I use the rose water toning spray after my mask and I must say that I LOVE the smell. Because, it is infused with rose water it helps get rid of redness and it also leaves my skin feeling refreshed without leaving a sticky residue.

Makeup:

My fav eye shadow palette of all time that I use almost everyday is my Urban Decay Naked2 palette. It has the perfect neutrals for any eye colour and I shouldn’t say this, but I have had it for YEARS and the pots have yet to diminish!

My favourite blush of the moment is the Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Risque. The shade matches my skintone both with and without a tan, allowing me to use it all year long. It also blends out really nicely and you can use to create a soft subtle amount of colour for minimal makeup days or build on it when you want a “full face”.

My secret weapon for glowing skin is... are you ready for it....??? Organic virgin coconut oil. I use coconut oil for so many beauty purposes! I use it to remove my mascara vs a wipe to prevent my lashes from being pulled out of my eyelids. I also use it to remove my makeup when I run out of makeup remover. Coconut oil is also a great natural moisturizer for the skin. Another way that I use it is under my eyes to help prevent wrinkles and diminish my dark circles.
When picking a coconut oil to use on your face and/or body, ensure that it is organic and virgin. You don’t want it to have any preservatives or added ingredients.

Hair Products:

I have been using the got2be smooth smooth operator on my hair for years! I love this product for getting rid of frizz and it is also a heat protectant. I use it on towel dried hair and either let it sit or blow dry my hair. If I am blow drying my hair, I will also add it to my ends once my hair is dried and before styling.

Garnier dry oil is another product that I have been using for a couple of years. After the shower, and when my hair is towel dried I apply a very small amount to my ends to help prevent breakage. You do not need a lot of this product, as too much will weigh your hair down and also make it feel greasy.

Nails:

I recently started using the Quo sponge nail polish remover and I will never go back to using a regular bottle! The sponge makes it so convenient and easy to use and I never have to worry about pouring out too much or spilling it, which is amazing. It works fast and I have had it for four months now and it has still yet to dry out. Highly recommend!!!

For top coat I have been using the Essie Gel top coat and it keeps my polish on for up two weeks, which has never happened with any other top coats that I have used.

What are some of your favourite beauty products? Is there anything you think I must try? Comment below I would love to hear from you!

Supporting a New Mom

Hello lovelies,

First and foremost, I would like to introduce our newest bundles of joy to the world, Adaliina & Antonio. Both babies were born perfectly healthy and have been home with us for just over a week now.

If requested I can do a separate blog post about my delivery story. I will also have my hospital bag post coming up next, so stay tuned for that very soon!

Now on to the post.

As a second (and third) time mom now, there are many things from my first experience that helped me out a lot and there are others that I was either to shy to ask for, or I thought I was alone in my thoughts for wanting them. With that said, I recently wrote a post for work on How to Support the New Mom in your life and I wanted to share it on here as well, hoping to help other new moms and parents, or those who know someone who is expecting or has just recently had a new baby. It’s okay to feel excited and eager to want to see the new baby, but don’t just show up empty handed (physically and/or metaphorically).

If you are going to be visiting a new mom or new parents, here are 10 things that you can do to show your support and help make their life easier, while they are caring for their newborn.

  • Bring food - Being a new parent does not allow for a lot of cooking time. With feedings every 2-3 hours, constant diaper changes, and trying to stay sane, a full meal is one of the last things on a new mom’s mind. Bringing a hot meal or even a frozen meal that can be reheated is a great way to ensure mom and dad still eat.
  • Offer to help clean - Taking care of a new baby can be a pretty messy job and the house isn't going to clean itself. Offering to lend an hour or two of your time to help wash dishes, put in a load of laundry or even vacuum, gives a new mum a well deserved break.
  • Be mindful - When visiting a newborn baby, be mindful by washing your hands before you touch the baby and if you are a smoker, not smoking before you visit the baby.
  • Offer to run errands - Does she need diapers or wipes? Does she need to pick up any prescriptions at the drugstore? Offer to pick them up for her. Also, if you are in the neighborhood, a quick text to see if she needs anything is always appreciated.
  • Respect her choices - Finding a balance between all of the advice that a new mom has received can be challenging. If mom has decided to exclusively breastfeed, don't get upset that you cannot bottle feed the baby. Also, never mention babies sleeping habits. It takes time for mom and dad to find their groove and also to understand their new baby. Mom does not need to hear what the latest sleep pattern technique is, or that the baby needs a bottle so they don't get too attached. Let them figure it out and only give advice when asked.
  • Watch the baby - Offering to watch the baby for even 30 minutes is heaven to a new mom. She can use this time to feel like a human again by taking a quick shower and freshening up.   Or she might want to spend the time with an older sibling, who might appreciate a little special mom time of their own.
  • Call first - Visits are always welcome and appreciated, but call first. Mom may have other visitors, or may not be up to seeing anyone at the moment, so always be sure to call before arriving unannounced.
  • Bring something for mom (or dad) - Late night feedings can get pretty boring at times and a new magazine/book or movie are great little gifts to give to new parents to help them pass some time.
  • Don't stay too long - If you are visiting, don’t expect to stay all day.  Everyone is eager to visit mom and baby, but remember that mom also needs some alone time with her husband and her new baby. Figuring out this whole parenting thing and new family dynamic is hard enough as it is, but throw in constant visitors and it gives mom and dad very little time to figure it out on their own.  Mom may also need time to pump or she may want to take a nap with baby. Look for cues that the visit is winding down. She really doesn’t want to have to ask you to leave.
  • Take the big kids off her hands - If mom and dad have older kids, offer to babysit or take them out of the house for an hour or two to give mom and dad some alone time with their new little bundle. Siblings need to be reassured that they are loved and special, and going out somewhere fun proves that there are benefits to being older, mobile and verbal.

Is there anything that helped you out or that you wish you had help with after having your baby?

Comment below and let me know!!

Review - Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Hello lovelies!

I recently had the opportunity to try out the new Lash Sensational Mascara from Maybelline and wanted to share my experience with you all!

Mascara is always a tricky product for me. I have long lashes, however my main issue when trying to find a new mascara is finding one that provides both length and volume. Did the Lash Sensational Mascara live up to it’s name? Keep reading to find out!

Price:
$10.99CAD
Can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Shoppers Drugmart or Rexall, as well as most pharmacies.

Product Claims:
-Capture lashes from root to tip for a full-fan effect
-Washable

Did this product live up to the hype?
Yes, it did give me full length and yes, it does wash off.

Pros:
-Easy to use
-Separates lashes
-Provides lift and length
-Does not run

Cons:
-Formula is too wet (when used brand new). Works better after about a month when the formula starts to get a little thicker.
-Very “sticky” - When washing it off it can clump, so be sure not to tug on your lashes.

Over all rating: 8/10

Would I purchase this product again? Probably, when I need a mascara for traveling that is inexpensive.

Would I recommend this product?
Yes, as it is a great value for anyone look for a good lengthening mascara on a budget.

*Disclaimer: I did receive this product free for testing purposes. All opinions are my own. I was not paid to give a good review.

Thank you everyone for reading! If you liked this post or have any comments, please put them down below!

Review: Covergirl Flammed Out Mascara

Hello lovelies,

The Covergirl Flammed Out Mascara has been out for a little while now and I finally got my hands on it. I just got the chance to try it the other day and I wanted to do a review for all of you. I got it in the colour 300 very black blaze.

Product Claims:
- 3x the volume for big bold long lashes
- The hourglass wire brush sweeps lashes up and out for buildable volume.

I have very light and pretty long lashes, so I always look for something dark that provides volume, because I already have length. The first thing I noticed about this Mascara was the wand. The shape conforms perfectly to my lashes and makes it easy to cover every single lash with product. The wand also provides even distribution of the product making my lashes voluminous from corner to corner.  As you will see in the picture below, this Mascara definitely lives up to it's "3x the Volume" claim. The Mascara provides gorgeous volume and length without being clumpy or sticky.  It is also easy to take off at the end of the day.  The packaging alone makes it hard not to gravitate towards this product in the store.

You can find the Covergirl Flammed Out Mascara at all drugstores with a retail price of $ - $.

Rating: 10/10
Would I try this product again?
Yes!!!

Would I recommend this product to others?
Girl, go get you some!!!!
(Totally took that line from EG!!!)

Have questions or comments about this prodcut?  Leave them below!!!!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope that this post was helpful, if you are in need of a new mascara, or if you weren't sure if this was the right product for you; until now ;) !!!!

Until next time....

How NOT to do your Makeup for the Holidays

Hello lovelies,

The holidays are officially here and most of us have packed schedules with party after party to attend. Getting ready for a holiday party takes a lot more work than a regular party. You are going  to see your entire family, friends that you haven't  seen in a while or all of your co-workers in one room. Seeing all of these people we of course want to look our absolute best and different than we normally do.

For all of us ladies doing our makeup for a special occasion can take forever, at least longer than normal. This post is mostly for fun, as I would never step out of my house looking like this. In this post I have also included some major tips to help save anyone from a makeup mishap for anytime of the year.

- Do wear colour and have fun with it.
- Do NOT wear a bold colour on your eyes, lips and cheeks. Pick ONE feature to be your main focus.
- Do fill in your eyebrows to add more depth to your face and make your eyes open up.
- Do NOT over fill in your brows, this can literally make you look crazy!! Do follow  your natural arch and fill in any sparse  areas.
- Do contour your face and add bronzer or a cream concealer in a shade that is two shades darker than your foundation.
- Do NOT pick a shade that is more than two shades darker than your foundation or it will look unnatural and muddy.
- Do wear false lashes or a volumizing mascara to make your eyes appear wider and pull your entire look together.
- Do NOT wear lashes that are too dramatic, especially if you already have a bold eye look going on - you don't want to hide the masterpiece that you just  created on your lids. You also don't  want to look like you have a critter hanging over your eyes.
- Do wear glitter and a highlighter to beighten up your face and help add dimension.
- Do NOT wear a highlighter that is too light for your complexion and Do NOT dip your face in glitter.

I hope that you may have gotten a laugh from this post and also some helpful tips!!!

Have an amazing holiday everyone and Merry Christmas!!!!

Broadway & Kiss Nail designs

Hello lovelies,

I recently got a package in the mail fr Influenster Canada including two different sets of nail designs. I love anything that is easy to do and offers a polished look all at the same time and that is exactly what both of these sets offer.

The first is a press on nail design from Broadway Nails - Media Darling
To start the colour is a gorgeous hot pink and can go with almost any look. They are a medium length and the package has several different nail sizes, making them a perfect for anyone. Inside the package there is also a prep wipe to get your nails ready for the press-ons. The thing I love most about these nails is how effortless they are and how amazing they look.

Don't have time for a salon trip? Forgo the salon and buy these instead!!! It only takes a few minutes to apply them and then you are set for however long you want to wear them (recommend time is one week). Everyone will think that you got your nails done professionally, because they look that good!  If you only plan on wearing them for one day or a few hours for a special occasion, then you can totally reuse them, just keep the plastic backing.

The second set in the package is from Kiss - Double Lutz
This set is great for a classic French tip; a classic bejeweled Fremch at that. The best part about this French tip is that you don't have to worry about only one hand looking good when doing them yourself, because they are stickers!!! No more shacky lopsided French tips on your opposite hand. The set includes 22 stickers and you can choose if you want a thin or thicker tip. When applying the stickers you can also cut and reshape them to fit your nails perfectly.

If you want to up amp up your style even more you can paint your nails a different colour before the application or place them on top of your press-on nails. Below I cut the jewels off and placed them on the bottom of my press-on nail from Broadway nails and made a half moon design.

Depending on how often you get your nails wet and for how long, the press-ons can last for up to 10 days and th stickers for up to 7. I have a new baby, so I am constantly washing my hands a million times a day making the sticker last me four days before they started to peel at the top (it looks just like chipped polish). Four days for me is still a long time and ai was actually surprised they lasted as long as they did.

These styles are so versatile and easy, that you will never have to go to a salon again (or you can at least spread out your visits). The stickers and press-ons will also keep your nails looking and feeling a lot healthier than constant salon trips, that can reek habit on your nails.

Both retail for under $10 at select drugstores and department stores.

Would you or will you be trying out any of the above styles?

If you've tried out either brand before let me know your thoughts below!!!

Until next time....

Big Announcement

Hello lovelies!!!!

I have not posted anything in the past almost 2 months for two reasons.

One: I got a new job in the beginning of October, which gives me sparatic days off.
Two: Because of the way I have been feeling most days. Some days I am just so tired that all I want to do is sleep. Others I just feel so ugh and sluggish, which ultimately results in me wanting to sleep. Naps have been a huge part of my off days lately.

By the title of this post I can only assume that you are wondering what this big announcement that I have is.

If you are close family and friends, then you may already know but, you want to see and read more.

My announcement is that.....

I AM PREGNANT!!!!

As of yesterday November 28th, 2013 I am officially 12 weeks pregnant!!!! And I am over the moon!!

My boyfriend and I have been together for a long, long... while and we are so happy. We weren't necessarily trying to have a baby but, we weren't exactly preventing it either. It was more of yes we want to one day and we shall just see what happens down the road. And, now the road is here.

I suspected in September that I may be pregnant but, was not yet sure. We took a test at home and it turned out to be negative. A week later still pretty sure that I was pregnant, we decided I should go to the doctors to get a blood test. I went to the doctors on Thursday October 3rd and got an hcg blood test taken. The next day, Friday October 4th, while on my break at work, I called my doctors office for my results, not sure what to expect. Low and behold I got the amazing news that my test came back positive!!!!

I then hung up the phone and called my boyfriend right away (this is something that you cannot wait to tell your partner, at least I couldn't) to tell him the results. The smile that leaped upon my face while attempting to tell him the news was so engorged that I could barely speak a word. At first he did not believe me but, very quickly came around with excitement of his own. We then continued on to tell our parents and siblings within the next week.

We are both so very excited to be parents and keeping this a secret for the past 12 weeks, has been one of the hardest things that I have ever done. Every time I have seen a pregnant woman I want to jump for joy and share our experiences thus far together but, I had to contain myself.

The reason that we decided to wait until our 12th week to announce the big news was simply because this is our first and my first pregnancy and we wanted to ensure that baby was growing strong and healthy before we told everyone. The chance of (God forbid) a miscarriage after 12 weeks of pregnancy is less than 1% and that makes us ecstatic parents to be!!

Now that the news is finally out there I am so relieved! We finally bought something for baby yesterday and I cannot wait until we move and get our new place (most likely in late April or early May) and I can decorate little cupcake's room. Also, finding out the gender will be huge, because then we can buy gender and colour specific items. No more gender neutral stuff YAY!!!

As well, so you all know my EDD is June 12th, but many people say that your first usually comes earlier, especially if you are of a small frame. I am somewhat tall at 5'8" and pretty slender, which can also be another sign for an earlier delivery. I personally do not mind if baby were to come around 36 or 37 weeks instead, as long as it is because cupcake is ready to greet the world. I just want to see my baby he...he..

Well, I don't want to turn this post into a chapter of a novel, so I shall bid a due to all of you!!!

Please post any questions or comments below so I can answer/read everything that you all have to say. I will be doing a post every week or two to update you all on my journey and you can also check out my new tab "My Pregnancy Journey"  for quick picture updates of baby's ultrasounds and my baby bump!!!

I will also be getting back into my regular fashion and beauty posts very soon. I have several different posts that I want to share with you all soon!!

Thank you so much to everyone reading this post, it means the world to me that you are following along on my journey with me!!!!
